Map My Run

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Whether you're serious runner or just trying to shed some extra pounds, this clever tool helps make whatever you're working toward more tangible. The site uses Google mapping technology to plot your jogging route and track your mileage. Set precise distance markers and map out any stops for stretching, restrooms, or water along the way. You can save your map and share it with your exercise buddies. Start plotting, running & bragging ... .;)

m&ms for nana

Friday, October 26, 2007

For as long as I can remember, my Nana always had a candy bowl. It was our first stop:) Fond memories. So, when came across this site, couldn't help but order Nana some personalized m&ms.

They're two shades of pinks. One side reads: Nana Candy. The other side: XOXO

She -- deservedly -- now has her own candy line:) Hope she is pleasantly surprised when they arrive ....

Move over Ziploc

Friday, September 14, 2007

Am a BIG fan of Ziploc bags -- Get the freezer strength & use them to store makeup (that's a lot of bags). Fell in love with the gallon size & the super XXL for storage of things of all sizes. Now -- thanks to tip from reader of this site, am head-over-heels for chic decorated storage bags from Mobi.

And, look, just in time for Halloween:

Mixing Up the Good Ones

Thursday, September 13, 2007

Everyone gets a few good shots & only one person seems to ever do anything with them. Am making this up, but you get the idea ... We can all trade photos online, but it gets messy -- you have some from your sister; you've got your own; someone sent some you couldn't open; another person who had a camera at the event, never sent them .... All of this is why Mixbook is a refreshing approach. You can collaborate online with all of your friends and family to collectively create a comprehensive album. Someone should still take the lead (some things never change), but it's a great way to get to the finish line faster & making sure you're capturing "all the good ones."

Bonding with Dogs

Tuesday, September 11, 2007

I was with the most well-behaved dogs you'll ever meet this w-end. One is a white lab & the other is a chestnut brown golden retriever, in a deep chestnut you've never seen before. They are both gorgeous. I didn't exactly bond with them & am kind of bummed about it. It's my fault. They know when you're focused on them & when you're not. These dogs miss nothing. It's interesting, they don't have a lot "stuff," but they seem perfectly content. It amazes me the amount of "stuff" you can get for a dog. This catalog just arrived. inthecompanyofdogs.com

In The Company of Dogs

Am thinking I'm best suited for the Sculptural Breed Topiaries, though I'd probably forget to feed & water them:(

How's My Nanny?

Thursday, September 6, 2007

Same concept as the "How's My Driving" bumper stickers. Instead of calling in to report someone's driving...you're logging on with an ID number from a license plate displayed on a nanny's stroller to file a report. Parents pay a $50 for a small license plate with a unique identifying number attached to a child's stroller. They recieve an email alerting them to the report, which can be accessed on the website using a password. Good Samaritans can even choose to remain anonymous and the site also enables people to report acts of "praise" rewarding exemplary Nannies. Personally, would hope you've done enough due diligence to not feel compelled to go down this path, but it is an option if you have concerns.

Picture Thesaurus...A Different Way

Thursday, September 6, 2007

Take the thesaurus to the next level. Visuwords lets you type in any word and it automatically opens a web of related words, definitions, things associated with that word. It's an eye-opening way to see the visual component behind words and their interconnectedness. Great tool for your kids to learn and discover. Try typing in the word 'computer', there are so many related words, it looks like your PC would explode.
