Sat down with the kids to write postcards to the soldiers through www.LetsSayThanks.com. It is fascinating to see what they write & an interesting conversation starter to hear first-hand their thoughts on what the war is all about, what freedom means, etc.
My boys wrote the following (with spelling help from their big sister):
I KNOW ITS HARD KEEPING SAFE, BUT WHEN YOU COME BACK YOU WILL REALIZE HOW MUCH WORK YOU DID.
-- Sam (age 7)
HELLO SOLDIERS! THANK YOU FOR PROTECTING OUR COUNTRY. BE SAFE! WE WANT YOU TO BE SAFE. THANKS FOR BEING BRAVE. I REALLY, REALLY LIKE THAT.
-- K.J (age 6)
The organization was kind enough to ask me to contribute a card, which they plan to feature when they next update the site. Here's hoping you & your family will also take a few minutes to send a quick & well-deserved thanks. It's literally three clicks. Send one before you send your next email ...
