This Camera Makes You Look 10 Pounds Thinner

Monday, September 17, 2007

Can a camera really make you look thinner? We couldn't resist finding out. So, we tested the HP Photosmart R967. It's one thing to get rid of red eye, but a non-invasive way to shed a quick 10 lbs .... Now, we're talking. Priced under $300 (or $30 a lb depending how you count), we gave this specific model a whirl.

The effect is subtle & your subjects will still look like themselves. Only, better. You can max out the slimming feature for a more dramatic. Hey, if we didn't want drama, we'd use any old camera. The secret lies in the built-in image editing which allows you to play around with different artistic functions. A classy way of describing things that make it look like your diet is working. Here's product demo & camera models with this magical feature. It's getting some rave reviews, including one from us.

Easier than any diet. HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:

To use the slimming feature, select Apply Artistic Effects in the Design Gallery menu on your HP digital camera To use the slimming feature, first take a photo. Then, while in playback mode, use the arrows to select an image and press OK. Highlight the Design Gallery menu tab using the arrows.
Select Slimming Use arrows to highlight Apply Artistic Effects and press OK. Then highlight Slimming and press OK.
Adjust the slimming effect Adjust the slimming level using the arrows. Then press OK, and you're finished.

The resolution is decent with 10 mega pixels and standard 3x optical zoom. The screen is a huge help at 3 inches and the weight of the camera makes it feel more substantial than other point-and-shoot digitals. See specs. Though think 10 is the only number you probably need to know. As in pounds.

Just think how happy your friends will be when you send photos from your next get-together. Suggested caption: It was great to see you & you look great! They'll never know, unless they ask or you forward this blog entry.

Here's our lovely intern Libby's before/after photo (you didn't really think I'd personally subject myself). From good to great!
